An error on System Restore caused by Online Armor 3.5 Free
The following error message of the System Restore appears on my desktop PC equipped with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (home edition):
"There was an unexpected error.
This parameter is incorrect (0x80070057).
System Restore will now close."
Significantly, the record of all existing restore points does not show when my PC is running Online Armor (OA) 3.5.0.32 Free.
However, when OA is turned off, everything is back to normal as well as starting my PC on safe mode (F8).
I look forward to having your remedial action on OA as soon as possible. It seems to me that such issue on the previous OA versions has been raised on the forum earlier.

Did you do a clean install of 3.5.0.32? If not, it's possible the issue was carried over from an earlier version that had the problem.

Sorry catprincess, off-topic, but if I trust a program, can I put OA into Learning Mode when I install the program that I trust and downloaded from a reputable website? Will OA then automatically allow everything?

Yes to answer, and please don't scatter random questions thru out the forum.

Hi, catprincess
Yes, I did reinstall Online Armor 3.5.0.32 Free with a clean install. At first, my PC was back to normal after checking the System Restore.
Regrettably, after a while, the same error message appears when checking the System Restore.
Maybe, Online Armor 3.5.0.32 Free (personal firewall) is not stable.
I appreciate it much if you will soon let me have your expert advice again.
Regards.

Hi A.
I believe the OA is stable, and the reason I say that is because I too am using Online Armor 3.5.0.32 Free and my system is running very stable.
It must be something else that is contributing to your challenges.
Hope you find a solution.

If system restore is working with OA disabled, it is possible that OA is blocking a system restore file or service. I use XP and the system restore file system filter driver (sr.sys) is added to OA's Programs list when a restore point is created and/or the service turned on. I think Vista may have/use a driver of the same name; it is located in System32\Drivers.
Please check if sr.sys is in your OA Programs list. If it is listed, ensure it is allowed and trusted. If it is not listed, you can add it manually (right-click in the Programs tab and select 'add') or turn system restore off then on (and check that it has been added - you may get a prompt by OA to allow/trust it).

To add my 2 cents, when installing SP2 for Vista, it failed until I turned off OA and had to make the service manual or disabled until SP2 completed successfully.

Hi, judson
Thank you for your directive.
I do not see the system restore file system filter driver (sr.sys) as mentioned by you. However, two drivers - srv.sys and srv2.sys are existing on my Vista PC.
I have added these two files into Online Armor "firewall" program. It happens that checking on the System Restore was normal for a short while but fails again. The same incidence happens as indicated earlier.
I am puzzled by Online Armor (firewall without the Program Guard), while the installation of my Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (home basic) was reported successfully.
Any further help is highly appreciated.
Regards.
